Cinematographer
Nico Schrenk is a Director of Photography with a human centered approach to storytelling across narrative and commercial work.
Originally from Austria, he moved to Germany to study cinematography at the Filmacademy Baden-Württemberg.
He loves to explore the human soul and the world with a camera and drifts off in conversations looking at the light and atmosphere of a place.
His commercial for “Ecosia” won gold at 1.4 festival, 2x gold at Spotlight and silver at the Young Director Award, got a Vimeo Staff Pick and has seen a worldwide release. His spot “Happy Holy Family” won gold and 3x silver at Spotlight 2022 and gold at the 1.4 festival in London. His short film “Borzaya” got shortlisted for the 2022 Student-Oscars (Student Academy Awards). He was awarded with the German Cinematography Award (Deutscher Kamerapreis) for his short Film “Everybody Leaves in the End”.
His latest film “Skin on Skin” was screened at over 60 festivals around the world and won Best Student Fiction @ Tirana International Film Festival as well as the Audience Award at Max Ophüls Preis & Vienna Shorts and the First Steps Award.
He received the Michael-Ballhaus-Prize for “Skin on Skin” and the Golden Tadpole at Camerimage in 2025.
Nico studied cinematography @ Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
